If you are on a Mac instead of Windows, use Option instead of ALT and use Command instead of CTRL.

In Hitfilm Express I find it very, very difficult to slide items along a track using the mouse without those items moving to tracks above or below, even though I have locked the adjacent tracks . Advice would be much appreciated.
You could try making your video/audio tracks a bit taller so it’s easier to stay within their bounds as you move your mouse
